In the late 50s, there was very little rock music as such in this country. Cliff and 'the Drifters' brought the stirrings of rock 'n' roll from America to England. Within a few months, the Shadows became stars in their own right with a string of instrumental hits such as Apache and FBI - "The Shadows sound" was established, inspiring thousands of budding guitarists to try emulating them.

For thirty years, they were Europe's top rock instrumental group. Today, even though they have not recorded or toured together since 1990, their style is still instantly recognised and when asked to name their favourite instrumental band, most people still say
THE SHADOWS

These pages are intended as a tribute to the group and a source of information for other fans and collectors. These pages will always be under construction. I am a fan, not an expert and whilst the information is correct to the best of my knowledge I would welcome any amendments and/or suggestions to improve the pages. These pages have been designed for viewing on a 640x480 pixel screen. The photos will look best if your monitor is set to display 16 or 24 bit colour. Pages have been tested on Netscape 3 and Explorer 4. Some of the table effects are lost in Netscape 3.
